There are many tasks we do each day or week that involve using literacy skills to help communication and understand in our environment or daily life.
The literacy tasks often involve everyday contexts we do with our whānau, friends, food, shopping, fitness, being social, making something, travelling etc. but the tasks also use many of our other skills too. Skills like communicating with each other, sharing ideas, reading/writing and speaking. We use these skills often without thinking when we are solving problems every day.

Being able to use technology safely is becoming more important as we use technology for many daily activities, but also for recreation and work reasons. Knowing how to access information helps guide us to what we may need, but also being able to share that information safely may also help others.
You may also find that once you have found information safely, you are then inspired or need to create your own original content. This could be with images, with videos, creating your own material, or using a range of apps, platforms, or software to create something unique to share.

Our rangatira lead by example, offering aroha, manaaki and use tikanga to be true to their actions.
Their integrity and honesty set standards for us to live by and to care for others. We look up to their leadership which may be within their own iwi or community, or may be as examples in business, politics, sport, music, the arts or as academics in their chosen field.

US33247v1 - Apply basic numeracy skills in structured and familiar contexts (Foundation Skills) 5 credits
INTRO PRICE until 30 Jan 2025

We used numeracy skills regularly around food, shopping, money, measuring, making something, travelling etc. but when we use numeracy, we are also using other skills too (talking to each other, researching, using technology, problem solving, making decisions).
When you are using numbers or measurements to solve problems, you need to think carefully about what the problem is and what number function you should use to solve it. When you are interpreting statistical information for a purpose, we think carefully about what the purpose is and what statistics skills you need to use to achieve an outcome.
(An additional Introduction to Numeracy Skills is also included in this package).
